We do not recommend one solution (for e.g., sleeve gastrectomy) to all patients who are obese. As obesity is a complex, multifactorial disease, for best results, its treatment also needs to be tailored to each individual. The different 'OBESITY SOLUTIONS' described here is to highlight that “all obese individuals are not the same.” For the sake of simplicity, we divide them, to three main groups, to explain and plan their weight loss solutions.

It is likely that your obesity, even though milder, has seriously affected on your metabolism. One such effect is “insulin resistance” causing diabetes. Hence, you will benefit with procedures that have a greater resolution of diabetes. These procedures alter the levels of gut hormones and produce insulin-like effect without stressing the already ‘weak’ pancreas, hence are better than the commonly done sleeve gastrectomy. They typically have a “bypass” element on the intestine, hence, need special follow up for their nutritional side-effects.

If your BMI is between 30-35, and have no health issues, but
You can choose to have the BARIATRIC LITE option.
Majority of people (50-60%) today, are overweight, or in the Class 1 obesity ( BMI 30-35) section. Low calorie diet with exercise, is the mainstay of the weight loss in this group. However, for most, it is easier said than done. So, we recommend this solution only for a temporary weight loss, as there is a potential for weight-regain, if you do not continue an effective weight loss (diet and exercise) program after that. Hence, you should consider the pros and cons, before choosing this option. However, many do report that they could jump-start their weight loss programs, this way.
